Event Planning
One of my roles working at Kindred People is managing in-store events. This involves collaborating with other businesses, having an organized schedule, and having creative marketable ideas for content creation. My favorite event I ever planned was a free yoga and athleisure launch party. Here I instructed the yoga class, created marketing promotions, and educated customers about our new athletic line. Some other events I took part in managing are Hunt and Gather, Corks and Canvas, our birthday parties, and events where we collaborated with local makers/brands that we carry!
Being a manager I have obtained great skills in leadership. It is my job to make sure communication is clear amongst the stylist, all of the requirements are being met, and that the customers are always being put first. I am also responsible for training new employees and making sure everyone has the knowledge and tools they need to provide the best customer service. This also involves a great deal of problem-solving when issues come up. Every day I use my knowledge and best judgment to make decisions that are best for the business, customers, and staff.
Other managerial tasks include:
-
Organizing, styling, and scheduling photoshoots
-
Hosting in-store events
-
Collaborating with local bloggers/influencers
-
Flexibility with scheduling and time availability
-
Understanding and completing advanced store functions
-
Collaboration with other local boutiques and businesses for giveaways and downtown events
Leadership
Visual Merchandising
My role as assistant manager at Kindred people consists of managing the store's layout. This involves presenting the store's merchandise in a way to generate sales, creatively maintaining the stores aesthetic, and clearly displaying the merchandise in an organized shopper-friendly manner.
Window Displays
Another part of my job at Kindred People is creating window displays. We update our large front windows 2-3 times a year. The store manager and I collaborate with the owners to come up with beautiful hand made displays to hang in our windows. Below are some pictures from a Christmas display. Here, we created reefs, paper flowers, and a dress made out of spray-painted gift tags.
Photography Styling & Marketing
A big role in this job is creating social media content. This involves photography, scheduling shoots, organizing content, and being fluent in the use of apps and other photo editing technologies. I use my creativity at this job by coming up with social media stories, style tips, building outfits, and marketing the products in a way that is relatable for customers.
